On October 20th and 21st, seven Texas State students attended the Texas Network for the Study of Public Issues (TNSPI) fall seminar at Texas A&M University. The students attended lecture and discussion sessions exploring classic and contemporary writings on marriage and family, including excerpts from the works of Locke, Mill, and Tocqueville. TNSPI is an initiative of the American Public Philosophy Institute (APPI).
Dr. Ashleen Menchaca-Bagnulo organized the Texas State delegation and served as the discussion leader for one of the sessions. Schools represented at the conference included the University of Dallas, Texas A&M University, the University of Texas at Austin, Baylor University, Texas Tech University, and Rice University. Speakers included Christopher Wolfe (University of Dallas), President of the APPI, and Mark Regnerus (UT-Austin), author of the book, Cheap Sex: The Transformation of Men, Marriage, and Monogamy.
