On Thursday, November 16th, Teaching Assistant Amy Perry shared her research on “Factors in Rejection of Presidential Nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court” with political science faculty and graduate students at a Grinklings gathering. Her ongoing research identified several factors that affected the nomination and confirmation process and looked closely at six specific nominees.
The department’s “Grinklings” gatherings are an opportunity for graduate students to share their research projects with faculty members and other graduate students. It was inspired by the “Inklings” series that the department hosts, and was the fourth presentation since Grinklings began in 2015. The department’s “Inklings” gatherings take their name from a small group of intellectuals who met weekly at Oxford University in the early and middle decades of the 20th century to discuss their works in progress.
