On December 4th, the department held its final Inklings event of the Fall 2020 semester. In a presentation entitled “Explaining the 2020 Election (or at least trying to),” Dr. Michael Faber discussed various aspects of the 2020 presidential election, as well as contextualizing with details about the Senate, House, and state legislature elections. During his the talk, Dr. Faber discussed how Donald Trump once again significantly out-performed the polls, shifts in Senate and House seats, the impact state legislature elections may have on redistricting processes, claims of voter fraud, the Georgia Senate runoff election, split ticket voting, and the credibility of polling.
Dr. Faber’s invaluable presentation concludes the semester’s Inklings events. Despite social distancing protocols and the unorthodox year, the department has been successful in bringing minds together to share current faculty research.
