On Saturday, November 20th, the Rho Eta chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (PSA) held its annual fall induction ceremony at Palmers Restaurant in San Marcos, Texas. More than 20 new members were inducted into the chapter, marking another record-setting year for the Texas State chapter of the national political science honor society. The organization plans to expand further next semester, partnering with more organizations across the university to bring in speakers from the worlds of politics and public service.
At the event, Buddy Garcia, former Texas Railroad Commissioner and Texas State PoliSci alumnus, spoke to the members about the importance of being politically engaged in an increasingly apathetic environment. He also drew on his extensive experience in state government to offer the members advice on their careers.
Founded in 1920, Pi Sigma Alpha is the national honors society for political science. The Texas State Chapter, Rho Eta, was established in 1988 and over the last thirty years has hosted a variety of lectures and community-service projects.
