Political science department’s Dr. Charles G. Kels has been selected by the Faculty Senate as recipient of the Part-time Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award. The purpose of the Part-time Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award is “to recognize outstanding faculty and to acknowledge the many and important contributions of the nontenure line faculty.” Consisting of a certificate signed by the college dean and monetary prize of $1,000, one award may be bestowed in each academic college annually. Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Dr. Mary C. Brennan, will present Dr. Kels with the Teaching Award in the Fall.
Dr. Kels teaches courses in the department’s Master of Arts in Legal Studies Program and has been previously recognized for his outstanding teaching. In the fall of 2021, Dr. Kels and a fellow faculty member were named favorite professors by Texas State’s Alfred H. Noelle Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. Alpha Chi is the oldest honor society at Texas State, founded in 1922, promoting academic excellence and exemplary character among undergraduate college and university students and honors those who achieve such distinction.
