On Tuesday, February 28th, Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) hosted a meeting where they discussed the current legislative priorities for the leaders of the Senate and House chambers, Lt. Gov Dan Patrick and Speaker Dade Phelan, as well as the current and past partisan makeup of the legislature and bills that have been filed up to this point.
SWIPS will host their next meeting on March 21st and will feature Dr. Hanks. The organization is also planning to hold officer elections sometime in late March/early April to replace officers who will be graduating.
SWIPS is a non-partisan professional education and development organization centered around aiding political science/public administration majors (or adjacent students) in exploring all facets of political science. This organization aims to educate students so they may discover their professional and academic interests, become more civically active, and expand their knowledge and understanding of politics in San Marcos and beyond. SWIPS is by women, for everyone, so students of any gender identity are welcome.
