On Tuesday, September 10th, Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) hosted its first meeting of the 2024-2025 school year. The meeting began with formal officer introductions before the 29 attendees, some new members and some returning, were invited to introduce themselves. Pizza, cookies, and drinks were served. Students were able to enjoy these refreshments while they created vision boards, mingled with new members, and learned about future events and department opportunities. The overwhelmingly positive reactions of attending members gave SWIPS an encouraging start to the semester. This year’s officers are President Madelyn Byers, Secretary I Lauren Garcia, Secretary II Yovanna Contreras, Treasurer Lilli Jones, and Social Media Coordinator Lucy Cifreo.
SWIPS is a nonpartisan women’s organization at Texas State University. This professional education and development organization is dedicated to helping political science majors and other students explore the various aspects of political science, enabling them to pursue their professional and academic interests. SWIPS meets every other Tuesday at 6:30PM in THH 428.
