SWIPS Meeting Covers Upcoming Elections and Registers Voters

Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) hosted its second meeting of the Fall 2024 semester on Tuesday, September 24. SWIPS officers led a presentation for the 27 attending members with information about the upcoming presidential and local elections. This included clear descriptions of the position a candidate is seeking, a link to each candidate’s webpage, and the policies supported by each candidate. Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDRs) at the meeting assisted attendees in registering to vote. Sharing nonpartisan information regarding elections educates voters and encourages them to make decisions independently.

The Political Science Department provided pizza, cookies, and chips to keep participants refreshed and engaged as they discussed key candidates and policy issues. SWIPS officers also promoted upcoming events that would further encourage community involvement in local and national political processes.
