On Tuesday, February 11, Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) hosted a “Galentine’s Day” meeting. 21 members attended the meeting, which opened with a discussion of upcoming events such as the SWIPS Callaboose museum tour (3/1), their involvement in Bobcat Build (4/5), and an upcoming capitol tour in April.
Following this, attendees made crafts as Valentine’s Day gifts for friends and loved ones in their lives. As these gifts were made, officers presented on the history and legality of marriage rights in the U.S. Two guest speakers – Sam Kulovitz (Texas Rising) and Trinity Sutherland (Peace Corp Ambassador) – also joined in on the meeting to share information about their respective organizations.
SWIPS is a nonpartisan women’s organization at Texas State University. This professional education and development organization is dedicated to helping political science majors and other students explore the various aspects of political science, enabling them to pursue their professional and academic interests. SWIPS meets every other Tuesday at 6:00PM in THH 309.
