Braiden Touchette, a political science major, has been selected to serve as a 2024-2025 Texas Civic Ambassador by the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life. Her duties as a Civic Ambassador have been keeping her busy.
In January, Ms. Touchette attended a leadership retreat in Austin for the TCA program where she heard from legislative leaders at the capitol. In February, she attended the Great Conversations event at the University of Texas at Austin. The event was a fundraising and networking event with a range of individuals from different fields including Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, members of the state legislature, lobbyists, and representatives of Dell Technologies, Amazon, Google, and more. Later that month, she spoke about civic engagement with the superintendent advisory committee for San Marcos CISD about encouraging youth people to engage in civic affairs.
Ms. Touchette said that she believes her participation in the Texas Civic Ambassador Program “has given me life-long friends. It has taught me invaluable lessons about civic life, civic engagement, and advocacy. It has elevated my ability to be a leader in my community.”
