On Tuesday, March 18, Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) hosted a meeting for 12 participants. The meeting began with a discussion of upcoming events including Bobcat Build (4/5), their April meetings, and upcoming officer elections. Officers then provided members with an opportunity for a post-spring break mental wellness check.
Participants then watched the film “Represent” (2020), a documentary by Hillary C. Bachelder about three Midwestern women who decide to run for local office for the first time in the 2018 midterm elections. The women come from different backgrounds and have different political affiliations, but face many of the same issues.
SWIPS is a nonpartisan women’s organization at Texas State University. This professional education and development organization is dedicated to helping political science majors and other students explore the various aspects of political science, enabling them to pursue their professional and academic interests. SWIPS meets every other Tuesday at 6:00PM in THH 309.
