Grace Theobald, a student in the department’s Political Science program, has been named the Department of Political Science’s “Outstanding Graduate Student” for the 2024-2025 school year. This award for dedicated academic and community excellence is given to a single master’s student each year.
An exceptional student, Ms. Theobald earned the Graduate College’s Graduate Merit Fellowship in 2023 and the TSUS Graduate Endowed Fellowship in Liberal Arts in 2024. She is currently working on her M.A. thesis, which is about how young voting-age women participate in politics. She is a Graduate Instructional Assistant for the Department as well as a Teaching Assistant for POSI 2310. She was instrumental in several Department events such as Meet the Professors, Constitution Day, the Election Night Watch Party, and Alumni Night.
Ms. Theobald said, “I’m extremely honored to win the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. I have always tried to put my best work forward and aim to continue doing so throughout the rest of my academic career. A graduate education is not something that I originally had in my plans, but my experience has been so rewarding and enlightening. I am so happy that I now have the ability to showcase my diligence and perseverance through this award.”
