Political science major Braiden Touchette has been named the Department of Political Science’s “Outstanding Undergraduate Student” for the 2024-2025 school year. This award for dedicated academic and community excellence is given to a single nominated student each year.
Ms. Touchette is an engaged student, participating in such organizations as Move Texas and She’s The First, nonprofits that focus on youth civic engagement and education. She is an editor for the Texas Undergraduate Research Journal (TXSTUR). She serves on the Martin Luther King Scholarship committee for the City of San Antonio, reviewing applications and interviewing candidates to disseminate over $500,000 of scholarships. From fall 2023 to fall 2024, she competed in Model United Nations and Model Organization of American States. She is currently a Texas Civic Ambassador, and her project focuses on student voices and representation in school districts. Ms. Touchette is pursuing law school following her graduation from Texas State University and plans to work in the public sector.
Ms. Touchette said, “Studying political science has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my academic career. This award is a testament to my passions, my tenacity, and my commitment to positively impact the world beyond Texas State.”
