On Tuesday, September 23, Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) kicked off the new semester with a meeting focused on “Ethical Ways to Use AI.” More than thirty students attended the meeting, where participants discussed AI, its evolution and applications, and politics and legislation related to AI. Other issues discussed included AI tools and software, the importance of honing individual critical thinking skills, and the idea that AI software should be used primarily for organizational purposes. Finally, officers briefly discussed department events, election and voting information, and various scholarship opportunities.
SWIPS is a nonpartisan women’s organization at Texas State University. This professional education and development organization is dedicated to helping political science majors and other students explore the various aspects of political science, enabling them to pursue their professional and academic interests. SWIPS meets every other Tuesday at 6:00PM in THH 406.
