Two dozen students attended the 2023-2024 kick-off meeting of Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) on Tuesday, September 12th. The meeting started off with off formal introductions, as well as a preview of meetings and events planned for the next few weeks. Pizza, fruit, and drinks were served throughout the duration of the event. SWIPS members spent most of their time putting together vision boards, getting to know the new members, and asking/answering questions about future events. The officers this year are: President Myleen Gamez, Vice-President Madelyn Byers, Secretary Lauren Garcia, Treasurer Laura Perales, and Social Media Coordinator Savanna Mendiola.
SWIPS is a nonpartisan women’s organization at Texas State University. They are a professional education and development organization centered around aiding political science majors and other students with exploring all facets of political science so they may discover their professional and academic interests. SWIPS meets every other Tuesday at 6:30PM.
