Jennifer Walker Gates, an immigration lawyer from the firm of Walker Gates Vela PLLC (http://walkergatesvela.com), came to speak to SWIPS students about immigration law and her experiences as an immigration lawyer. She fielded questions about her career in law and her experience as a woman and mother in both school and the practice of law. Dr. Lamm, Lecturer in Department of Political Science and faculty advisor of SWIPS, arranged the event to host Gates. The event was well-attended and all the students were grateful for the pizza.
The group is getting ready to make decisions about their leadership committee soon and is planning a women’s empowerment workshop along with the College Democrats and the College Republicans.
