On Friday, September 16th, from 2:30 to 4:30pm at Lamppost Coffee, Supporting Women in Political Science (SWIPS) and Pi Sigma Alpha hosted the Voter Deputy Registrar Certification Drive event. The event provided voter deputy registrar certification test guides and directed people wishing to be certified as VDRs to the Hays County Government Office. About a dozen attendees, both students and Texas State staff, successfully passed the elections office test and became VDR-certified. Additionally, the new VDRs were able to utilize their new certifications on Tuesday, September 20th, for National Voter Registration Day. Many of the new VDRs volunteered at tables with seasoned VDRs and aided the NVRD coalition to register over 400 people to vote in one day.
