Dr. Susanne Sternthal, a member of department’s faculty who specializes in Russian politics, has been accepted into the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s prestigious Summer Research Laboratory (SRL) program. It is sponsored by the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center (REEEC) and the Slavic Reference Service (SRS) at the University of Illinois. She has been chosen as a scholar in the Title VIII program which is funded by the U.S. State Department for her promising work in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies.
“This is a very exciting opportunity,” Sternthal notes, “as the University of Illinois Library’s repositories of sources dealing with Russia are among the best in the country and will be a treasure trove of materials related to my book in progress on Putin.” 2023 marks the program’s 50th anniversary.
